LPK Interns Highlight Gen Y Designs

LPK International will showcase their design internship participants’ final project, the Next Best Seller, at the upcoming High Point Market. This is the second group of LPK interns with this opportunity. The internship team, made up of two industrial designers and one graphic designer, was tasked with researching, trend forecasting, sketching, and rendering the Next Best Seller - a furniture collection designed by Gen Y, for Gen Y. To validate their design trends, the team conducted a survey, with the support of social media outlets like Facebook, to collect data on age, gender, relationship status, income, favorite furniture retailer, favorite television show, and much more. From their research, three collections, each with a target customer in mind, were created.

High Point Market Awarded IBP Designation for Fall

The U.S. Department of Commerce has again designated the October 2011 Market as a U.S. Commercial Service International Buyer Program event. The High Point Market is the only home furnishings trade show to receive the designation. This is the fifth time the High Point Market has been given the IBP designation, but the first time that the Fall edition of the Market has been named an IBP show. It is also the first time that both shows in a calendar year have received the honor.
