SFC Sets the Great Buzz Off for Market
The Sustainable Furnishings Council will be staging a unique public event, The Great Buzz Off, at the High Point Market on Monday April 4, at 5pm. With TV personality and designer Thom Filicia as emcee, The Great Buzz Off will present a side-by-side demonstration of the differences between sustainable and ordinary products by cutting them apart with knives, scissors, or a circular saw. It will feature comparisons between upholstery and case goods, with each layer progressively peeled away and explained – organic textiles vs. polyester, recycled milk jugs vs. spun Dacron, solid and/or certified wood vs. MDF and veneer, water-based finish vs. varnish, recycled iron springs vs. standard, etc.

ASFD Elects Officers and Directors for 2011-12
The American Society of Furniture Designers has announced its newly elected 2011 slate of officers and directors, to be installed at their meeting on April 4.
Assuming his new role as ASFD president, Dudley Moore Jr. of Otto & Moore says, “I’m pleased to welcome our talented slate of new Board members, and look forward to a great 2011 for the American Society of Furniture Designers.
