SFC Sets the Great Buzz
Off for Market

The Sustainable Furnishings Council will be staging a unique public event, The Great Buzz Off, at the High Point Market on Monday April 4, at 5pm. With TV personality and designer Thom Filicia as emcee, The Great Buzz Off will present a side-by-side demonstration of the differences between sustainable and ordinary products by cutting them apart with knives, scissors, or a circular saw. It will feature comparisons between upholstery and case goods, with each layer progressively peeled away and explained – organic textiles vs. polyester, recycled milk jugs vs. spun Dacron, solid and/or certified wood vs. MDF and veneer, water-based finish vs. varnish, recycled iron springs vs. standard, etc.

Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library Offers Book Deals at Market

The Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library will offer book sales in three spaces at the High Point Market, April 2-7 – in the IHFC’s 11th Floor Hamilton Bridge, Market Square M8047, and the main location at 1009 N. Main Street. The Library is offering a 25% discount on regular priced books to furniture visitors at all three locations, and will also have an expansive book sale at the Main Street location, where there will be a 50%-off room, as well as a large selection of books that are all $5 each. Categories of books include furniture, decorative arts, interiors, and business titles.
