THE COMMODORES TO HEADLINE “STARS UNDER THE STARS” CONCERT SERIES
Legendary Motown band The Commodores—known for ballads such as “Easy” and “Three Times a Lady” and, of course, the funky dance hit “Brick House”— are set to kick off the Fall 2007 “Stars Under the Stars” series. The Grammy-award winning band’s top singles—including “Slippery When Wet,” “Just to Be Close to You,” “Too Hot Ta Trot,” “Still,” “Sail On,” “Lady (You Bring Me Up),” “Oh No,” and “Nightshift”—have been dance floor and pop favorites for decades.
The series, which opens Monday night, October 1, will also feature Three Dog Night, popular regional bands, and plenty of free food and drink. Sponsored by the High Point Market Authority, all “Stars Under The Stars” concerts begin at 7:30 under the Showplace Tent. Doors will open for each Stars event at 7:00 p.m. **Please note: All Market attendees wishing to enter must present a current Market badge and a valid picture ID and no one under the age of 15 will be admitted.**
On Tuesday, October 2, Market guests can dance and dine with The Dickens, a regional band known for mixing up R&B, rock, ‘80s retro, reggae, “old skool” and current hip-hop, and everything in between. With their spin on hits from Bob Marley to the Beastie Boys, Otis Redding to Outkast, the Stones to Snoop, Stevie Wonder to Sublime, The Dickens are sure to keep the dance floor full.
The “Stars Under the Stars” series will continue with classic rock band Three Dog Night on Thursday, October 4. Market-goers will want to sing along to the band’s well-loved Top 40 hits include “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Joy to The World,” “Black And White,” “Shambala,” “Easy To Be Hard,” “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” “The Show Must Go On,” and “One.”
Friday night offers something for everyone with U-neek Flavur, a band that brings great harmonies and choreography to familiar favorites.Wrapping up the week of “Stars Under The Stars”on Saturday night is Hot Sauce, a Charlotte-based cover band that makes every show a party with a fusion of hits from the ‘70s though today.
