Here’s good news for all those traveling to Spring High Point Market April 7 to 13, 2008: Several new and newly-renovated hotels coming online just in time mean there are more options than ever for Market guests.

Among the new properties is a brand new 116-suite Residence Inn opened last fall on the Eastchester Drive/Route 68 Corridor on the Greensboro/High Point border near the Piedmont Triad Airport. All rooms include a kitchen with full-size refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and all place settings including pots and pans. (A grocery shopping service is available). Wireless Internet service and a workstation are provided in each suite. Other hotel amenities include a complimentary full, hot breakfast, indoor pool with whirlpool spa and a fitness room with LCD screens on all the equipment, according to Shannon Stewart-Hill, director of sales.

Skybus, the low-cost air carrier that recently made the Piedmont Triad International Airport PTIA) in Greensboro, N.C. its new hub, has just announced that will begin service from Greensboro to Chicago and to Philadelphia. Flights to these cities will begin March 13th.

“We’re excited to add Philadelphia and Chicago to our list of great destinations,” says Bill Diffenderffer, chief executive of Skybus. “And we’re excited to offer our passengers in these markets our unique combination of nonstop flights, less-congested airports and outrageously low fares.”

In keeping with its strategy of using only highly-efficient airports, Skybus’ new service will operate from New Castle Airport in Wilmington, DE, located about 35 miles from Center City Philadelphia, and Gary/Chicago International Airport, located 25 miles from downtown Chicago’s famed loop.

Tickets for the new service went on sale this week, with 10 seats for $10 on every regularly scheduled flight, and many more tickets at Skybus’ low fares.

It’s important to have an event where you can see the whole marketplace, to gather information and learn about the industry. High Point lets you look at the big picture and see where the industry is going. Every Market you miss puts you six to nine months behind industry trends. Reps are going to let you know about their new offerings, but even the best reps can only do so much with photographs and brochures. To really understand a product, you have to see it, touch it, and experience it in an environment that shows how it fits your customers’ lifestyles.
