Some 13 years ago, Jeremy Sommer founded San Francisco-based Zocalo on the premise of well-built, yet inexpensive furniture. Since then, the line has come to be synonymous with the “lifestyle” movement.
At Market this Spring, in-house designers Jorge Jaramillo and Margaret Leigh are demonstrating that Zocalo remains on the cutting, well you know, with Edge™. The original line of affordable furnishings is simple, yet stylish, and inspired by the current trend of architectural geometries. Facades slope gently into gathered waists and flare onto delicately tapered legs, while the hourglass profile glows with a warm auburn patina, subtly mirrored in intricately faceted surfaces.
“From the volumes sculpted by crisp folds, to very well-defined lines echoed in the detailing, I haven’t seen anything like it,” says Jaramillo. “It’s generous in scale while keeping a pleasant shape that isn’t aggressive, intensifying a rich finish through the play of light.”
With 17 lustrous pieces, the Edge™ Collection includes bedroom, dining and occasional groups. See it first in Zocalo’s showroom on the third floor of the Hamilton Square Building.
