Designers Care 2010 Dates Set
Due to popular demand, Designers Care 2010, a home furnishings and accessories sale and fundraiser benefitting Triad Health Project (THP), has been expanded to two weekends this Spring, June 4-6 and June 12-13.
There is no cost to attend Designers Care, held at The Village at North Elm in Greensboro, N.C., where shoppers find hundreds of pieces of first-quality furniture and other products for the home donated by a wide range of furniture manufacturers, showrooms, retailers and designers. Companies donating merchandise for this year’s sale include Bungalow 5, Chelsea House, Four Hands, Global views, db Sources Inc., Design Source and many other national brands.
“Since its inception three years ago, Designers Care has been so popular with shoppers and so successful in terms of fundraising for THP that the board decided it was time to expand the sale to two weekends,” says Designers Care Chair Steven Wood, interior designer at Viewpoint Studios and a THP board member.
“As a 501c-3, not-for-profit, Triad Health Project provides exhibitors donating samples they would otherwise have to move out following Market, with a tax receipt for the value they place on the donated items,” notes Kimberley Wray, vice president of marketing, High Point Market Authority, a THP board member who serves as co-chair of the event. “The organization also arranges for a moving company to pick up donated items at the exhibitor’s booth or showroom, so they don’t have to worry about moving and storing them. Any exhibitor interested in donating need only contact Shane Burton, director of development at Triad Health Project, via email at sburton@triadhealthproject.com to arrange for pick-up.”
Triad Health Project, www.triadhealthproject.com, is a volunteer-supported and community-based nonprofit that provides emotional and practical support to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, to their loved ones, and to those at risk for HIV/AIDS. THP educates those at risk and the community at large about HIV/AIDS, and advocates locally, regionally and nationally for individuals and groups infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. THP is a proud member of both the United Way of Greater High Point and the United Way of Greater Greensboro.
Over the past three years, the Designers Care event has funded HIV prevention/education programming for more than 1,000 people at risk for HIV infection, free and confidential HIV testing for nearly 600 people at non-traditional testing sites, and case management services for more than 500 clients in Guilford County.
