Akhavan Farshchi was founded in 1890 by Mohammad Ebrahim Akhavan Farshchi in Teheran/Iran. He quickly gained his reputation for his rugs which reached the highest standards. In 1950 Ahmad, son of the founder took over the company and in order to increase sales levels he started to export rugs to the Freeport of Hamburg. Growing demands for rugs resulted in the steady expansion of the company. In 2001 the company formed its subsidiary "Looms of Persia" in New York to service the large rug market in North America. The company remains a family business and is now in its 3rd generation with Nooshin and Ebrahim working in sales and marketing.
