Neighborhood: Market Square & Elm

The magic of Kaya Means Home started 28 years ago, when Else Cloete, a single mom and entrepreneur dedicated to the art of recycling, up cycling, and sustainable living, saw the rugs in Swaziland, Southern Africa.
Else loved the concept of training, employing, and thereby empowering a local community, giving the men and women of a community a skill so that they could feed and educate their children. From this idea, 'Kaya Means Home' was born.

Our rugs, textiles, and tapestries are 100% recycled and are handwoven in a sustainable, zero-carbon-footprint community outside Johannesburg, South Africa.
The cotton and leather are pre-dyed, pre-shrunk, and machine-washable (on cold with mild detergent). Yes, even the leather!
