Answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Fall 2020 safety initiative

Why did you expand Fall Market from five days to nine days?

Social distancing has proven to be an effective way to control the spread of COVID-19. We expect our expanded schedule to spread out attendance and reduce the number of people in any place at any one time, so that you can meet your exhibitors while maintaining appropriate social distancing requirements.

When may I attend?

Our online registration system will ask you to select one of three, 3-day periods as your primary attendance period.

Period I: October 13-15
Period II: October 16-18
Period III: October 19-21

The periods you may select are determined by the state where your company’s home office is located. Look for your state on this map.

If you are an exhibitor, international buyer, or member of the press, you may attend any time during the 9-day Market. Student passes will only be available for Period III.

What if those dates don’t work for me?

The COVID-19 pandemic is a unique situation that has required all of us to be flexible and move beyond our norm. This segmented schedule will keep all of our guests safer, if we all work together. Please plan to attend during one of the two periods outlined for your region, as this is when sales reps in the showrooms will be expecting you. Will my rep be available on those dates?

We created the regions in consultation with the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association (IHFRA). They are designed to be sensitive to sales reps’ and regional territories. Your rep should, in theory, be available during the two periods outlined for your region. However, the best way to be sure you will see your rep is to make an appointment for every showroom you visit. This will also help your exhibitor adhere to any occupancy restrictions that may be in place.

What if I need to stay for more than 3 days?

There is no restriction on the total number of days you may attend. However, to help control crowd size, we ask that you register for the period that encompasses the majority of your days at Market, and restrict your total attendance days to your allotted periods.

I do not live in the United States. When may I attend?

International buyers will not need to select a primary attendance period. You may attend during any of the nine days.

What precautions are you taking to protect attendees from COVID-19?

The health and well-being of our guests – and our community members – is our top priority. We are implementing additional health and safety measures, increasing our cleaning and disinfecting efforts, encouraging and facilitating social distancing, conducting daily health checks for all staff and attendees, requiring face coverings, and more. Will face coverings be required?

Pursuant to NC Executive Order 147, attendees will be required to wear face coverings while at Market. Exceptions will be made as outlined by the NC Department of Health and Human Services.

Will there be health checks?

Yes. All staff and attendees will be required to participate in a daily health check prior to accessing any Market building or service in the Market district. If you pass the screening, consisting of a temperature check and a few health questions, you will receive a colored bracelet indicating that you have passed. Each day will be a differently colored bracelet. The average health check takes about 28 seconds per individual, so it shouldn't take long to get you on your way. Will there be transportation?

Yes. All of our typical transportation routes will be available. For our downtown shuttles, we will utilize Go Anywhere vehicles instead of the larger Red Line / Green Line shuttles. You may find specific information in our Airport Shuttles, Hotel Shuttles, Park & Ride Shuttles, Downtown Shuttles, and Go Anywhere Shuttles sections.

All shuttles will be disinfected daily, and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned frequently. Shuttles will operate at 50% capacity, and face coverings will be required.

How will my hotel be cleaned in between reservations?

Please contact your individual hotel for details regarding their policies and procedures.

How will the expanded schedule impact events and programming?

Our Keynote Series and Style Spotters LIVE! will be virtual events. ASID Learn x Design will also offer CEU-accredited virtual seminars, and some exhibitors may hold in-showroom events when mass gathering guidelines can be followed.
